How to identify the faulty part on the logic board

I got a macbook2017 that will not turn on.

When I connect the power, there is no boot/charge sound and no screen output.

However, the trackpad can be pressed.

I disconnected only the logic board, connected the power supply, and measured the voltage and current, which is around 14.7V and 0.4A.

When left as is after connection, the temperature is rising rapidly.

Since the macbook2016, which is operating normally, was showing around 14.7V, 0.1A, we suspect an overcurrent due to the failure of a component on the logic board.

(First of all, I would appreciate it if you could point out any errors in my discussion at this point.)

I would like to identify the cause of the problem in order to recover from the above.

I can't see any burnt parts as far as I can see with a microscope.

Therefore, I am trying to identify the short-circuited parts using openboardview and a tester, but there are so many parts that I am at a loss as to where to start.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me the best way to identify the components on the logic board that are suspected to be faulty.

Also, if there are other possible causes, such as degradation of the thermal paste in the CPU, that would be helpful as well.

on the schematics search for the power aliases page, it will give you a list of the power rails to check

Thank you for your response.

I am very glad you replied.

I checked the following.

* https://www.alisaler.com/apple-a1534-820...

I understood that page 61 of the PDF which I can get from here is the power aliases page you are referring to.

You told me that "power rails" is the point I should check, but I understand that the "POWRE RAILS" you are referring to are "G3HOT RAILS", "5V RAILS", "3.3V RAILS", "1.8 V RAILS", and "1.2V RAILS" are applicable?

I understood that if I search for these "RAILS" in BOARD VIEW, the parts to be inspected will become clear.

@morison yes check all those rails, using openboardview with the board view file you can actually search for the power rail and it will show all components on that rail

@daniel

Thanks for the immediate response.

Okay, I will follow your advice and have it tested.
