I have a hard drive from an old server and I can not get it to work

hi

Somebody gave me an old windows server for parts.I managed to get one hard drive out of it that was 250Gigs. I connected it to an external dock but it only showed up in the disk utilities and not in the windows file browser and i could not do enything with it.

IF someone knows how to fix this please respond.

please give us the specs on the drive, i.e. type of drive, brand, model number. Also what are you hooking it up to.

If the drive shows up in Disk Management then you should be able to partition and format the drive. This link may help you troubleshoot your drive issues. If you still continue to have issues with the drive take a screenshot of Disk Management with the drive and post it here. Good luck.

It's entirely possible the drive was part of a RAID array and thus will be unreadable without the other drives in the array, so yeah, repartition and reformat and see where you are after that.
