Battery Issue after replacement: Dell laptop (Model: P84F)

Battery Issue after replacement: Dell laptop (Model: P84F) battery (Model:4GVMP - 68Wh)

Recently replaced my Dell laptop (Model: P84F) battery (Model:4GVMP - 68Wh).

After the new battery replacement, the laptop is not starting on the battery but after plugging in laptop starts. Once the laptop starts on plugged-in mode and if unplugged laptop works on battery for 1 min and shutdown.

Battery icon is there, so no missing battery.

Battery icon shows charging and stops once fully charge.

Battery health is also good (in unplugged condition) show a 2hr+ reserve battery.

So what to do to resolve this issue?

Update (06/29/23)

I noticed, laptop always turns on if plugged in and if I unplug it immediately after pressing the 'turn on' key, it will start on battery. if the laptop is plugged in during turning off, it will not start on battery next time. but if the laptop is not plugged in during turning off, means if it is on battery then it will turn on.

COMMENT FROM DELL: The issue is with the motherboard with a new battery. The current motherboard is working properly with the old battery. But it is not working with a new battery [this is a dell model problem] because not getting enough current to start. so motherboard replacement is required.

Check your battery replaced if it matches to your original battery spec. Based on you problem statement, your newly replaced battery has a lower current to turn-on your device.

Battery health is good - see attached battery health report

Kindly check the battery replacement spec if it matches on the old one.

You should check your old battery parameter to check if you replace with the right battery.

yes, its replaced with the same model, and same specifications, still creates errors

Please disconnect your charger and unplug your old battery, then press the power button for 15 seconds. Then install the new battery.

The charge control ckt is internal to the computer. The battery report appears to indicate the battery is fully charged. Therefore, the internal circuit is likely improperly reporting that the battery is low.

Per this service manual, https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/inspiron-1...

it appears that circuit is on the MB. If so, it is probably an uneconomical fix.

This is a block diagram of a typical charge control ckt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-Yy2BS7...

The battery low comes via SIO. The input is from the battery. I assume that is working as 3 batteries can't be bad.

Therefore, the SIO must not be functioning.

Maybe you can run a diagnostic that will test the SIO. That will verify or not my conclusion.
