It sounds like you're experiencing the phenomenon referred to as "ghost touch" where the phone acts as though it's receiving touch inputs even when no one is touching it. Ghost touch generally results from a damaged digitizer that is putting noise in the touch input signals so you're getting random information instead of registering touches as they occur.
The solution is to replace the digitizer, but since all modern phones have the digitizer bonded to the display, a screen replacement is the correct fix. Here's the iFixit guide showing you step by step how to replace the screen on your phone.

You can buy replacement screens in any number of places; I usually start with Amazon, eBay and AliExpress. Here's one of the first ones I came across being sold at AliExpress.
Note that there are two ways to buy the screen; you can get it with or without the frame already attached. The recommended way to replace the screen is with the frame preattached, as that assures you the screen is securely sealed to the frame. However, the iFixit guide does assume that you're replacing the screen without the frame. The procedure for a screen with the frame is significantly different so if you decide to get one with the screen I'd suggest looking for YouTube videos showing how to do that replacement.
