I need to replace the screen on my Pixel 6 pro. The current price of $222 is a bit high for my wallet. Is it reasonable to expect that the price of the part will go down after the release of Pixel 8?

Given that, I had to replace the screen on my niece's 6 Pro and ended up buying one from eBay. It claims to be an OEM screen, whatever they mean by that. But when I bought it back in August it was around $182 USD, while it seems to have dropped to $138 now. So yeah, prices are going to drop sooner or later, depending on how long you wait around; they always do. Here's the one I got, just for your information.

I did have an issue with the fingerprint sensor not working but I may have damaged it while getting it unstuck from the old screen. I ordered and received a new one, and now I'm just waiting for my niece to decide when she wants me to open it back up and replace the sensor; the lack of the fingerprint sensor doesn't bother her particularly so she's in no hurry.
I was going to add that the display works great; I can't tell the difference between it on her 6 Pro and the original one on my 6 Pro.

thanks, I had a terrible experience recently with a repair shop's installing a non-OEM screen while keeping the existing f/p sensor. The one you listed is LCD, while original was OLED, so it's definitely not OEM. As a result, the fingerprint sensor refused to work. I had a call with Pixel team's technician who claimed that non-OEM screens aren't compatible with f/p sensors and all OEM screens come with their own fingerprint sensors. I ended up giving up on using f/p sensor and now just wait for the original parts to go down in price. So I'm skeptical you'll be able to fix the f/p sensor, would be happy to proven wrong.
@andmat The listing seems to be a bit cavalier with their use of the term LCD. The screen I got is definitely OLED and the listing specifically says it supports the fingerprint sensor.
did you see any issues with performance? the one that was installed on my phone looks ok until you start noticing the following glitches (all were absent before the 'repair')
1. colors are slightly off
2. the screen is not as responsive as the original - need to tap many times before it reacts
3. it drains battery very fast and heats up the phone
4. it randomly shut down the phone
5. it flickers
6. in a dark room, the phone cannot find the perfect level of brightness anymore - either sets it too bright or too dark
maybe I got unlucky with a particular part, but I don't want to risk it again, wait till the original parts go down in price and buy them.
My only concern is that ifixit might drop pixel 6 parts too soon as it dropped pixel 5 parts instead of lowering the prices
