Why does my 2ds xl crash after attempting to operate the cameras?

After a few years of use, sometimes using the cameras to scan QR codes for the Pokéfinder option (or whatever it is called) to get Pokemon that don’t usually appear in the Alola region, the cameras would freeze my entire system. No inputs are detected and the only way to fix it is to hard restart my system by holding the power button for several seconds. I don’t understand why this happens and I want to be able to fix it. I haven’t been able to find a reliable camera unit for my system, and unplugging, cleaning, and reinstalling the camera’s ribbon cable didn’t do anything. Any suggestions?
