Why is my tv flashing red light and nothing on screen

Ok so when I plug my tv up to power the red light next to power button comes on and when I press power button it's like the screen tries to come on but it doesn't all the way and the red light starts flashing. What is wrong

because it is broken you should do something before it goes for good.
