Not booting, stuck on charging Battery icon
Hey all, I'm trying to get this mbp to at least boot but I'm having no luck.
Since it didn't come with a power adapter, I'm using an official Apple Magsafe 1 85W adapter with the magsafe 1 to 2 converter.
When trying to start it normally, it jsut gives a black screen with the red battery charging logo. I left it like this with an amber charging light on the magsafe cable overnight and came back next morning but it still had the same issue. Unlike other macbooks of this generation I've worked on (2015 13 inch Pro) it just immediately shuts off when the power cable is disconnected rather than show the 'connect to power' sign.
I tried disconnecting the battery and connecting it to the power adapter but that didn't fix the problem either. It behaved the exact same - as if it thought it had a battery to charge.
Pram reset does nothing, but when SMC is reset I can get it to chime. However it starts with fans on full blast and the progress bar only reaches 30% before it shuts off again and bootloops. This behaviour occurs regardless of whether the battery is connected. If I disconnect the charger and try start it again, it won't chime unless the SMC is reset again.
I've tried booting into safe mode after the SMC reset which gets the progress bar further but it still shuts off at about 80%. Recovery won't start and internet recovery gives me an error.
EDIT: Diagnostics reported back the codes PFM001 and PPT001.
I've also tried booting from a known working bootcamp ssd I had used before but it just hangs on the Windows loading screen.
Has anyone else had the same problem and what should I do?
EDIT 2:
I've gotten the macbook to verbose boot and a shot of the log right before it shuts off:
