Having lots of issues during Battery replacement

A couple of weeks ago, I replaced the battery on my MacBook Pro 2017 A1708. Before I began, I studied the relevant iFixIt page, and also several YouTube videos? The battery installation went well, and she had been working fine ever since

This evening, I wanted to replace the 256 SSD with a 1TB SSD? The 256 is still in there and completely untouched, because while opening the baseplate, the spudger caught the trackpad cable, causing the cable to become slightly, but not completely, unseated at the trackpad end of the cable.

When I figured that out, I went back in, disconnected the battery, removed the trackpad completely, then reseated the trackpad, as well as reseating both ends of the trackpad cable. I then checked the battery connections, all of which appeared to be in good order, before putting her back together.

With the exception of the battery connectors, the trackpad cable, and the trackpad, I did not touch any other part of the internals? I realise now that when disconnecting the male and female sections of the battery connector, I should probably have put a piece of paper between the male and female sections of them. Please clarif

One hour ago, as with Nathan's first post in this thread, the power button was working, and so was the trackpad? One hour ago, MacOS Monterey was opening to the login password page, which was some good news? One hour ago, when attempting to type my login password, the keyboard was completely unresponsive. One hour ago, I was able to use the trackpad to move the cursor to the restart and shut down buttons, both of which were responsive? One hour ago, the restarts were very slow, with the login screen taking as long as 15 minutes to appear.

Since then, having attempted to reset the SMC and PRAM via what appeared to be the completely unresponsive keyboard, I'm now only getting a black screen.

The battery is fully charged, and the power cable is connected.

Absolutely no sign of life.

I'm hoping that an SMC reset via an external keyboard will solve the problem, but if you have any other advice, I'd be very grateful to receive it.
