MacBook Pro slow after battery replacement. CPU throttling?

Hi everyone, I've recently replaced my Mac battery (for info the model is Macbook Pro 15'' Retina Mid 2014 A1398 E2881 and this is the battery https://www.ebay.it/itm/166497175632)

I carefully replaced it and tried to use the computer and all seemed to be working just fine. So I started to calibrate the battery in this way: charge it to 100%, unplug the charger and use the computer until it shuts down, wait 3-5 hours leaving it off and lastly recharge to 100%.

After this process I started to notice that everything works slower than before, so I checked the task manager but nothing appeared wrong, same with temperature sensors etc.

What I tried to do was:

-run Clean my mac

-SMC and PRAM reset

-start the computer in safe mode

-start the computer with the diagnostic (pressing D), but no error showed up

- enter mac OS recovery and run disk repair

-run Onyx

Then i ran some benchmark:

-with black magic all fine

-geekbench 4.4.4 showed really low scores, like 1/3 or less that it should be

-etreCheckPro recognized that the computer is slow and that the CPU and RAM usage is too high based on the programs running (nothing but this one)

Some told me that it could all be due to the battery incompatibility... but the specs are right and I double-checked the codes of the original and the substitute and they coincide.

Furthermore I also have Windows10 installed on an external SSD running with BootCamp, it's also slower than before.

Does anyone have any idea of what more I could do?

Try running one last battery program: Coconut Battery

This will check the battery to figure out if there is an issue with the battery.

Also, does the performance change if the MagSafe Charger is connected or not?

Hi, I already checked Coconut Battery and linked the screenshot. It recognizes the battery with no problems.

I tried Geekbench both unplugging the MagSafe and unplugging the battery connector to the logicboard. The score is about the same as before.

Same thing concerning the performance, still sucks in any way

@ilkarmaletale - Okay then, your Mac probably hates the new battery. Sometime, computers purposely slow performance because they can't identify a power issue. So, to confirm this is the case, run the Mac without the battery. Simply disconnect the battery from the logic board and test the Mac again. If the Mac runs fast, then the Mac hates the new battery.

According to the link above, the battery is not a genuine Apple Battery. That is probably your issue.

Yes what I meant in the previous comment is that I also disconnected the battery from the logic board, but the computer is still slow and also according to the benchmark it still has low scores.

@ilkarmaletale - Oh, then something else is damaged. I'm afraid that the logic board got damaged from a static shock during the installation. Check a couple other things, though. Disconnect the battery and display, and run the Mac on an external display. (If this model has replaceable RAM, which I don't think it does, run the Mac with only one RAM card.) Disconnect the Trackpad and Keyboard, and run the Mac with an external Mouse and Keyboard. If the performance still does improve, your logic board is shot.

Ok, the RAM is soldered, but I’ll see what I can do of the other things you said. I really hope it’s not the logic board to be faulty! Thank you for your help so far
