Keyboard keys are starting to fall off

Okay, as title says. My E key started doing this a year ago and I just got used to it, now my W key is doing it. I have no idea what the underside of the key is supposed to look like, but noticed that W and E, appear to be damaged?

As in, the black stuff on the outer edge of the keys, as you can see it's faded in places.

The key scissors don't appear damaged, and I'm not keen on trying to take them apart, as they are delicate.

As you can see, W has some stuff on it, but I would rather ask first if that could be causing problems, because I don't want to take the key apart for no reason.

I apologize in advance for my poor photo quality, iPhone 8 isn't the best for photos.

(Above photo.) Clip visible on left side of key (looks like there's one, but can confirm there are two.)

Block Image

(Above photo.) Both clips visible on the top half of the key.

Block Image

(Above photo) Hard to see, but clips still visible.

The KeyCap bottom is missing the small clips that hold it on. These over time do fatigue causing it to come loose. You’ll need to get a new one here’s one site I use MacBook Pro keyboard parts click on the correct key set.

Update (06/26/24)

It’s not uncommon not to see them as you need a good one to compare. It’s also easy to snap them in the insertion process if you’ve not done a few so order a few extras to be safe. Here’s a marked image where they are missing

@danj - Apologies for the question but, I myself, when I look at the keys, noticed nothing out of the ordinary, (though I don’t have a spare key to compare to.)

I assume ‘KeyCap’ refers to the key itself (with the letter on it), with ‘bottom’ either meaning, the underside of the KeyCap, or the literal bottom part of the underside of it.

It is hard to see in my poor quality pictures, but as far as I know they are fully intact, when you pick the key up, the scissors move fluently, no odd movements or signs of anything being possibly loose. When I put the keys back, they rather audibly click back into place.

The photo does show that the top part has a clip holding the smaller piece in place, but there is no clip on the bottom, from my knowledge this is because that’s the spot that it clips onto the keyboard.

@danj - Since I am still not seeing what your seeing, I borrowed a family member's phone that had a better camera, for some higher quality photos. I'll edit my post and add them to it.

@computermoth - You can't 'see' them as they are gone! I can see the remnants of where they where hence my mark up and a zoomed area so you can see the rough edge of the snapped off clip.

@danj - Finished the edit none the less, so you can take a look at the higher quality photos if you wish.

@computermoth - With the mounted White scissor piece you can't see the broken clips.
