Compaq 610 window 7 update to window 11

Hi,

Unfortunately your Compaq 610 isn’t capable of running Windows 11.

It may not even be capable of running Windows 10 but you can try.

Whilst you may have success with Windows 10 you might find that it doesn’t run very well & you may have compatibility problems with some components & driver issues.

If you need to have access to a more modern web browser and other programs that no longer function on Windows 7 then you would be best of installing Linux OS to extend the life of the laptop.

You can google Linux OS on YouTube to learn about it and how to install.

There are lots of them but the most newbie friendly ones are:

Ubuntu Linux

Linux Mint

There are so many more and each one has several different desktop versions, some are similar to Windows and they also have light versions that will run on really old machines.

One in particular is AntiX Linux for 32 but & 64 bit.

You just need to watch a few videos to start getting the idea of which one will suit you & you laptop better.
