Adhesive for the battery and main board
TL;DR; I want adhesive to re-glue the logic board and the battery so they stay put. However, I also want the glue to be able to be removed easily.
In the case of adhesive for the main board, high thermal conductivity would be a nice bonus.
I have removed the adhesive that come with the battery, I think it's too strong for safe removal.
I have managed to disassemble my iPad, non-destructively remove the battery (or at least, not that it matters, I have a new one in there). However, I have also removed the main board, and everything else.
A lot of component is held in place by glue. iFixit's batteries come with glue strips, but I removed them because I fear that removing it, should I ever need to, is going to be impossible, and I dont want to go through the traumatic experience of dowsing the entire inside with a quart of isopropyl alcohol and prying gently.
This also include the main board. It's not "glued", but the metal foam connecting those two are permanently destroyed upon the lifting of the board from the chassis.
Update (03/11/25)
I have 3M command strips, but they are too thick, the ipad probably won't close.
I also have thermal epoxy (or, thermal glue), however those set permanently, which is not useful should I want to service my iPad again.
I have tried Scotch double sided tape, but they are too weak.
I have thought of hot glue, allowing relatively easy methods of removal, however it might soften itself due to heat from device, so it's also nto great.
I am open to adhesive that is soluble. Super glue technically count as one, but it might destroy the battery and damage the board, I don't want to do that.
