Lite-On iHAS124 Tray not ejecting, even with manual eject

My tray on my DVD drive won't eject, even if I use the paperclip manual eject, the drive itself moves out, but the tray doesn't move. This is a problem since the disassembly guides for the similar iHAS324 requires that the tray be ejected.

Hello, I had the exact same issue yesterday, with the manual eject not working.

How I fixed it

I managed to get it to work this morning by using a slightly bigger, sturdier paperclip and applying more force.

There shouldn't be any chance of damaging internal components, just make sure to push straight into the hole, not angled up or down.

Also, you may have to hold the drive to ensure it doesn't move. I took mine out of my PC case so I could handle it easier.

How the manual eject works

The manual eject lever, which you push on when you poke a paperclip into the hole, swings left, pushing a rail across to unlock the tray and push it out slightly.

I can attach images if you want, I didn't on this reply in case it delays my answer being posted.

Electronic ejection issue

The issue with the electronic ejection on mine seems to be that the tray ejection belt (as I call it) is too loose. I'm going to try put it in boiling water to shrink it (as I seen on other forums).

I hope this helps, just give it a good few tries, with decent force, and hopefully it will work.
