Device not charging plugged in overnight

I bought the device earlier in the year but did not get a chance to open it up until yesterday. I plugged in the power station to charge, but nothing is happening. This morning after plugged in overnight, there is still no indication that it charged.

@pasqualede79807 , Thanks for posting, and sorry you’re running into this.

A small number of FixHub Power Stations can enter a deep sleep mode during storage or transit, which makes them look totally dead — even after charging overnight.

There’s a firmware update you can run from a computer that usually brings it right back to life.

Here's what you'll need:

  • A USB-A to USB-C cable (important — USB-C to USB-C won’t work for this step)
  • A Mac or Windows computer
  • Internet connection

A quick head's up:

If you’re using both the Power Station and the soldering iron, they each need to be updated separately. Just run the process twice — once for each device.

To reset the firmware:

  1. Head to iFixit Web Console
  2. Plug the Power Station into your computer using the USB-A to USB-C cable
  3. Follow the instructions on the page to update the firmware
  4. (If nothing happens at first, try holding the power button while it’s plugged in — that usually wakes it up.)
  5. Once that’s done, unplug the Power Station and repeat the same steps for the soldering iron

After both updates, things should work normally again. But if you still aren’t getting any response, feel free to reply here and I’ll help troubleshoot further.

Thank you. I will try it.

These instructions worked for the soldering iron but not the Power Station.

Thanks for the update! Can you tell me what happened exactly when you tried to update the Power Station using these instructions? Did you get an error message?

Also, just to make sure, when updating the Power Station, you made sure to plug in the USB-A to USB-C cable in the back of the Power Station correct? In other words, when you tried to update the Power Station, you used the single USB-C input on the back/bottom of the Power Station right?

In the past, some customers have tried these instructions but were using the front inputs instead of the rear, which resulted in a failed update.

Let me know what happened when you tried to update the PS and we can see what other troubleshooting we can do.

When I plug in the Power Station nothing happens. The IFixit console does not see a device. Holding in the power button does nothing either. I plugged into the single USB-C cable in the back, the blue portion.
