How to start it again after years of discharge
it’s been years since it’s off and its just shows red light and its not starting on

Shawn, the charge indicator light doesn't mean the battery is charging, only that it's getting power IN. A Battery which has completely discharged then sat for years will SOMETIMES work, yes, but mostly they are permanently dead after that... discharging Lithium ion batteries completely even once, is damaging to them and often 'fatally' so... if it doesn't work after you tried charging it @oldturkey03 is right; get a new battery. I just did a search and found multiple suppliers on-line... you can too. Search "new battery Sony Xperia C" then pick the best price from the best rated supplier.

@shawn2048642 did you install a new battery or did you just try to use the old battery? If so, replace the battery first.

i can’t find the new battery and the old one is fine ig because phone shows red light while plugged in

@shawn2048642 your battery most likely will have discharged below the charging threshold. The red light only means that your phone is trying to charge it but it does not mean that your battery is holding/receiving a charge. Replace the battery and then re-evaluate.
