Short Circuit After replacing joystick of Xbox One controller 1914

After replacing the drifting original to K Silver TMR The Y on RS is constantly 100. After looking through the board schematic (top left TP and Mid top SW1) and testing with the multimeter apparently I have a short circuit between GND and RS-Y (Middle and Top pin)

My guess is

  1. Damaged board (Worst possibility)
  2. Bridge
  3. Faulty TMR

Here is some pictures of the solder, I used a wick to reduce the solder amount as much as possible to minimize bridges. Does anyone have any clue what is going on?

Update (12/20/25)

Okay so I think it was the isopropyl alcohol short circuiting the RSY. I thought it was fine as it was a hot day and alcohol does evaporate fast but apparently not!

Im just gonna leave this questions out just in case for people like me. Just leave it for a few hours and come back to have a look

Hi!

The soldering looks fine together with the traces as far as I can see!

So, it could be a faulty TMR. I would replace the joysticks again for other ones and see how that works out.

Could also be that the board is damaged due too much heat. But that would be the worst possibility.

Would try new joysticks first!

Please let us know how that goes!
