Quite on how to Disassemble the Honeywell HYF260E4 Tower fan,
This information might also be relevant for the HYF290E4 fan and others in the same model series.
The fan is not turning on
Not plugged in properly
If the fan does not turn on, ensure the fan is plugged in properly.
Buttons and or remote not in working order
If no noise occurs, ensure both the remote and front panel do not start the fan. If only one does not function, please check the respective repair guide for the remote or front panel buttons(For HY254 but nearly same internals). If neither the remote nor the front panel starts the fan, you may need to replace the motor assembly.
Obstructed fan blade
If the fan makes noise but no air moves, look at this guide to open the fan and remove any objects obstructing the fan blade.
The fan is not rotating or is rotating slowly
Obstructed fan blade
If the fan is not oscillating properly, the fan blades may have an object obstructing their motion. Follow this guide to remove the fan casing and ensure that nothing is in the way.
Faulty oscillation motor
If the fan is not oscillating properly and there are no objects obstructing it, you may need to replace the oscillation motor.
The fan is rattling
This can be caused by a few different reasons,
Top bearing running dry
If the top bearing is running dry a fix can be to add a droplet of lube to the top bearing, this can be done by following the guide to replace the front panel until step 5 and here removing the 2 screws for the top bearing and adding lube to it.
The front panel buttons do not respond
If the front panel buttons are not responding, the buttons are likely stuck, due to dirt that has gotten under them. View this guide to repair stuck buttons.
The buttons themselves could also be broken. Viewfront panel buttons(For HY254 but nearly same internals) to repair or replace broken buttons.
The remote does not respond
No clear line of sight between the remote and the fan
Make sure that there is a clear line of sight between the IR blaster and IR receiver.
Batteries not in working order
If the remote does not turn on the fan, ensure the remote has functional batteries. If not, use this guide to replace them.
If the remote is still not working, it may be faulty. You will have to take the remote apart and replace the circuit board, or just replace the entire remote.
