Better question would be, did work. Nothing, it clicked scraped and made all manner of noises and would not read or eject disks.

The repair went smoothly. I do however have issue with the repair guide. The repair requires you to swap out the daughter boards in the optical drives because Microsoft syncs the 2 boards to each other. So the repair is a bit more involved than shown on the website.

Please show users the process of changing the boards out. You need to do little soldering though, nothing too difficult. After that the new drives works very well. You must put the board from the old drive into the new one for it work. No way around it. The image shows the board that needs to be swapped out. Good luck...
