Unlike that one car I'm working on, this kit is a great decision

My buddy doesn't know how ventilation works. Like, at all. He crammed his fancy Playstation 3, a ridiculous, powerful, dear-lord-does-it-make-a-lot-of-heat machine into a cubbyhole in his Ikea furniture that was just barely big enough to fit it, with no airflow. Big shock, after a year it gets the yellow light. He's not the fixit type, so he bought a new one and gave the old one to me, saying if I could get his old data off it and the disc stuck in there it's mine. I had never even used a ps3 except for a few times, and had definitely never tried to fix one. Challenge accepted, my friend.

Swimmingly. Until the very end when I was about to turn it on to see if it worked and realized I had forgotten to take the other side of those thermal pads off. Good news, I got to take the whole thing apart again. Bad news, this was at 2:30 am and I can't sleep if I'm putting off fixing something. So I didn't get to bed til a little after four, but at least I did it with a working ps3.

If you're going to forget to do something, don't forget to take the other side of the thermal pads off. Forget something that only requires it to be half-disassembled. Much easier.
