I have a 3-yr-old MacBook Pro and the battery stayed charged for only 1 hour. I looked around, did some comparison shopping, and then purchased a "new" battery from iFixit (not a reconditioned battery).

I watched the video for installing a battery on iFixit. It was crazy-easy. Took about 10 minutes (I was being very very careful and slow). I already had the mactools - from a previous iFixit order. Those tools have come in quite handy on several occasions with my other Macs.

My sage advice is to order the tool kit, and always order Mac parts from iFixit. The videos are perfect and the prices for parts are the best.
