The Device Won’t Charge
Despite being plugged in, the device won’t charge.
Broken Charger
Attempt to charge your device with a different charger. If it charges with the other charger, then your charger is faulty.
Blocked Charging Port
Check the charging port for any debris or moisture. Debris or moisture can stop the USB connector from fitting properly and prevent charging. Wait for the port to dry and then use a small item such as a toothpick or toothbrush to gently remove any dust or lint.
System Needs a Restart
Sometimes when the phone is not functioning properly it just needs to be restarted. Press and briefly hold down the power button until a screen listing "Power off" "Restart" and "Take Screenshot" appears. Press "Restart" to restart the device.
If unable to perform a normal restart, a hard restart may be necessary. Press and hold down the power button and volume up button at the same time for 6 seconds. Then, the device will vibrate once. If you wish to force restart the device, release the buttons. If you wish to force a shutdown, continue pressing the buttons until the device vibrates three times.
The Battery is Draining Very Fast
After charging, the phone battery depletes quickly.
Software Needs to be Updated
To check for an update, go to Settings → About phone → Software update. Install any available updates.
Device Settings Not Optimized
Here are some battery saving tips by Sony Xperia Support Staff found on this forum.
- Turn off Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® when you don't need these features. You can turn them on and off more easily by adding the Quick settings widget to your Home screen.
- Uninstall and disable applications that you are not using.
- Disable Wi-Fi® scanning.
- Remove all widgets in Home screen that you are not using.
- Adjust the Brightness level in the Display settings menu.
- Set the Sleep in the Display settings menu.
- Enable the Smart backlight control in the Display settings menu.
- Enable the Adaptive brightness in the Display settings menu.
- Disable the Image enhancement in the Display settings menu.
- Use the STAMINA mode, Battery optimisation and whitelist applications that should be allowed to send or receive background data traffic.
- Disable Keep Wi-Fi® on during sleep.
- Disable Email push of emails for all accounts.
Faulty Battery
If the above steps do not work and your phone is older, consider replacing the battery.
The Touchscreen is Unresponsive
The phone does not react to taps or swipes on the screen.

Outdated Software
Check if a software update is needed. Go to Settings → About phone → Software update. If an update is need, press “CONTINUE” then “INSTALL NOW”. If your device is up to date, check other solutions.
Corrupted or Fragmented Data
Note: A factory reset will erase all data stored on the phone.
Perform a factory reset on your Xperia XA by going into Settings → Backup & reset → Factory data reset. Press “Reset Phone” and to confirm, press “Erase everything”. This process will clear out possible fragmented data that may be causing screen glitches.
Screen Protector or Case Interference
Any flaw in application of the screen protector may cause air bubbles or compression between the the screen protector and the touchscreen. Remove the screen protector and test the screen's response. If the problem no longer persists, either keep the protector removed or carefully reapply it to prevent flaws.
Screen Stutters or Lags
The screen takes time to catch up to what I pressed. The screen seems to shake and not function as directed.

Using STAMINA Mode
The battery saving mode called STAMINA may be causing the problem. To turn it off go to Settings → Battery → STAMINA. If the device is on the ‘always on' switch it to ‘never’.
Live Wallpaper
The lag being experience could be a result of having a live wallpaper. A live wallpaper is one that moves. To turn it off go to Settings→Wallpaper and change what type you have to a non-live wallpaper.
Third Party App Interference
An app from the app store may be causing it to be jittery. Restart the device in safe mode. By doing this you are running the phone without interference from third parties. Restarting a device in safe mode is different depending on what firmware your device has. Refer below for instructions specific to your firmware:
Running on Android Oreo (Android 8.0)
Press and hold the off button. When the ‘power off’ option appears, press and hold the power off button until it turns off. To exit safe mode, restart device as normal.
Running on Android Jelly Bean (Android 4.1 or later)
Hold on and off key until screen with ‘power off’ option appears. Hold the power off option until the screen for safe mode reboot pops up. To exit, reboot as normal.
Running on Android GB (2.3.X) or ICS (4.0.X)
Turn off phone as normal. When powering it on repeatedly press the home menu button until the device repowers. To exit, reboot as normal.
Overload of Memory
The device might have too much stored on it causing it to be slow and malfunction. To potentially fix, backup your phone onto a computer or external drive and delete the items off the phone that were backed up.
Software Defect
The issue could be a result of software glitch. In this case a software repair could take care of the problem. Sony specifically recommends using the Sony Xperia Companion.
Bluetooth Won’t Connect
Bluetooth will not pair with other devices.
Both Devices Aren't Turned On or in Pairing Mode
The problem may be that your Bluetooth isn’t turned on for your phone or for the device you are pairing to. It could also be that they are not in pairing mode, so double check all device's Bluetooth's are turned on. If this is your first time trying to connect a Bluetooth device then you will have to go to your “Bluetooth settings” to ensure pairing is turned on. You may have to enter a code once a connection between devices is established, try “0000” if the code doesn’t work refer to owners manual.
Other Devices Aren't Turned Off
Xperia auto connects to the last device you paired. To ensure your phone doesn’t connect with previously paired devices, turn off the other devices and disconnect the devices from your list of devices in your bluetooth settings menu.

The device you are attempting to pair to may also need to be restarted. This process may be different depending on the device you are using.
Devices too Far Apart
Try connecting the devices no more than one meter apart from each other. Once a connection is established, than you may try increasing the range.
Software and Firmware Need Update
The newest software updates address performance and troubleshooting issues that users undergo. Go to your settings and ensure you’re running on the latest software.

my xperia xa fell then the screen got a black color at the side and the swipe doesnt work eventhough i turn it off , i waited for it to be battery empty to shut it down…how to repair it?
