After replacing digitizer the top (assuming home button=bottom) part (about 0.85 inch) for left to right does not respond. What could be the reason? Looks like it is exactly 1/9 of the screen maybe that could be a clue?

bad digitizer.. This is common, right out of the box.. 20 percent are bad, and on some, I have even had the connectors come out separate from the digitizer (yeah it was broken off).. don't doubt what your first inclination is, and don't make it any harder than it is..

Tried another digitizer with the same result. still could be the digitzier (down to 4%). or maybe something else. do you know of a source that offers good pretested digitizers?

The left 10% wouldn't work for me first time. Went back and checked the ribbon connectors and managed to get it in another .1mm and also one of the plastic clips needed sliding in a bit after clipping it down. Perfect after that.

Were you replacing the digitizer because it cracked, or because of a similar issue on the original digitzier? It could be a damaged connection that caused your initial problem.
Where are you buying the digitizer from? That could make a difference.
