Home button seems to be pressing by itself?

The home button on my iPod Touch seems to be pressing by itself.

If I open any app it will just close after a few seconds as if I pressed the home button. Also, when I'm not in an app it will just flip back and forth between the search screen and the list of apps as if I was pressing the home button.

The button does not seem to be physically jammed because when I do press it you do feel and hear it click. And the button does work.

One other note..if I press down either to the right or left side of the home button it does act as if I did press the button.

Any ideas on this? Thanks.
