After windows starts to lode and go to main screen the screen remains black. I have hooked it up to another screen but the same thing happens. I have ran a hard drive test on it and it has a #1-07 Fail. It will not start in safe mode either. I do not have any back up disk or recovery disk. What do I need to do?

Kim, 1-07 Fail indicates that the hdd is failing/failed. Try to setup your boot order in your BIOS to your optical drive and see if you can run your computer with a Live CD Linux version (I prefer Puppy Linux) and see if it lets you access your hard drive. If it does, back up your files and be prepared to replace the drive. Not sure about your OS you could try and see if you get a replacement recovery disk through HP otherwise you could purchase a OS disk retail or run any one of the free Linux versions.
