What is causing this grey screen to LCD, still displaying to external?

MacBook 13" A1342 Mid-2010

I have just changed a logic board and I get a grey screen displayed on the LCD.

The MacBook still boots and still displays using a Mini-displayport to HDMI adapter.

I have tested with another lvds cable from another machine that is no longer functional (can't double check the cable) and with a new LCD which has the same issue. I did come across a question that indicated the nVidia chip might have lifted a little and some people have had success reflowing the BGA.

I don't want to do this if it is just a cable or connection problem.

Has anyone come across this before and how can I fix it?

If the external monitor is working, your video chip is fine. Stick with replacing the cable. Why was the logic board replaced?

Someone spilled liquid on it, near the LVDS connector, the IC had chipped somehow. Basically it was dead.

I have a LVDS cable on order but this is just annoying the heck out of me. is it likely to be a bent pin or something?

Most likely a corroded LVDS cable. Patience.

Yes it was LVDS. Not corroded but the pins had been slightly damaged.
