Hi, anyone know how to replace a cracked trackpad?

I still need to check the exact model of the laptop but I want to replace a cracked trackpad on my partner's macbook pro. Just wondering if you need to replace the whole top or if I only need a new trackpad. I don't really feel confident enough to amend the keyboard replacement tutorial for a trackpad. The cracked trackpad still works atm but if its affordable I'd prefer to replace it myself.

If you give us the last four figures of the serial number we can ascertain your exact machine. Actually, all you'll really need to do is remove the battery to get to the trackpad.
