Can anyone help with water damage repair? iPhone 4s

I have been trying to fix a iPhone 4s that had been dropped in water. I have removed the logic board and cleaned it twice with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristled brush? The battery is hard not squishy and i ran a volt meter on it and got 3.5v so I don’t think it’s the issue. I have ordered a second battery to make sure but I wanted to ask is there something else besides the logic board that I could clean or that would make a difference? I’ve cleaned the leads (plugs) as well I have plugged it into a charger and the logic board heats up but I get no boot up. Any suggestions or advice I’d love to have it. Also a side note I noticed the logic board heats up gently when plugged in to charge, not sure if that’s good or bad. Thanks.

Hi jamie,

I would make sure that all of the water is gone, particularly gone from places which are usually difficult to get access to. In other words, I would definitely disassemble the entire phone and clean the pieces with your alcohol.

When fixing an iPhone that has water damage, I usually take the logic board and put it into a bath of isopropyl alcohol for about 30 minutes. Then I let it dry next to a warm heater at least for a day. Putting the logic board into such a bath (the logic board needs to be covered by alcohol), the alcohol will pull out every single drop of water which could still be "hiding" under any protection shield, metal plate, etc.

I like your idea of ordering a new battery. This way you can really be sure that the issue is not the battery.

I did do the soak it in as bath for about 10mins before scrubbing it with the soft bristled toothbrush, I haven’t taken apart the upper or lower portions, I suppose I can try it whenever the battery gets here.

Step one--differentiate no power from no display. Is it recognized by iTunes?

Sadly no display, and no power iTunes doesn’t recognize it but the logic board warms up when plugged into my mac’s USB port.
