I am Jessa Bethany Jones. Or Burdett---my married name. I'm never sure how to answer that simple question "What is your name?"
I am the microsoldering mom, and you can read about my path to that name here:
I perform microsoldering miracles every day for devices that are sent to me from around the world. You can '''find my mail in repair business online at: iPad Rehab.''' Click the link and fill out a form if you need a quote for any microsoldering support. I came from the DIY community, and I love to help out my peeps. While I work primarily on iPads and iPhones, I do see a few MacBooks, Android phones, and even a Roomba or car key project every now and then.
In my former life, as a researcher with a PhD in human genetics, my world revolved around trying to understand the different dances of molecules inside normal tissue versus cancerous versions of the same stuff. And teaching. I've always loved the art of teaching complex topics to introductory audiences.
Four kids, and a bunch of beat up iPads later.....I realized the profound similarity of the simple march of electrons in orderly rows inside a logicboard with the charge-based movement of current inside neurons. Both seemingly basic processes result in a magnificent transformation into something that seems so vibrantly alive when all is working well, and so profoundly dull when it's not.
I started iPad Rehab a few years ago, and now we have a fully automated mail in repair business that serves hundreds of individual repairs shops in the US and Canada, as well as individual mail in repairs all over the globe. Soon we are going to offer weekend mini courses in Practical Microsoldering and Board-level troubleshooting at our Rochester, NY location.
In addition, I have trained some local "mommyfixits" from the stay-at-home mom community to be mobile device repair technicians. If you're a stay at home mom with a broken phone---get crackin' mama! iFixit has some amazing resources. You can do this!

사용자에게 답변하기: Data Recovery - Challenging CaseMinho—thanks for sending Scott our way. I’m sure you also could have recovered his phone, you just never know with the prior repair attempts. Shameful. but not terribly surprising for Drivesavers to have missed such a straightforward problem, especially with a price quote of nearly 2k. We recovered it on livestream tonight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3niTZ_P...
사용자에게 답변하기: How to check for IC Tristar fault? The breakout board style tristar testers are total garbage--they have too much noise and the problem of integral damage to fine traces within a chip does not produce a diode mode detectable change in resistance at the scale we can detect signal to noise. However, a German guy developed a digital tristar tester that uses a functional test of the tristar lines and that has proven to be an indispensable tool, at least in our shop. It is too expensive to make sense for DIY, but most independent repair shops will have one these days and it doesn't hurt to ask to borrow it for a minute. This is the "good" tristar tester. https://ipadrehab.ecwid.com/#!/Digital-Tristar-Tester/p/113440010/category=0
사용자에게 답변하기: tristar compatibility ipad air and iPhone 7 plusYes. The “tristar compatibility chart” is completely wrong. Use 610a3b for all 1610 variants.
사용자에게 답변하기: iPhone will not charge or turn onThe most common damage on an unopened phone that has no water damage is the tristar chip. Tristar is commonly damaged by non-certified “gas station” chargers. After that, you can leave your phone on a charger indefinitely, but it is the same as just leaving it on your bed—-the phone can’t charge. With that said, twice TODAY i’ve seen the exact same sudden death single cap failure on iPhone 8 plus, so you may have a readily solvable logic board problem (readily solvable by a competent microsolderer) The next step for you is to figure out if this phone can’t boot, or if it just can’t charge. The way to determine this is open it up and plug in a new battery. Apple Store will be a complete waste of time unless you’re cool with just paying the swap fee and turning it in. $349
사용자에게 답변하기: Why cant people hear me on phone calls after replacing my screen? You know what I’m going to say. That this sounds a lot like audio ic disease even though you don’t have other audio symptoms. You’re right. It sounds a lot like audio ic disease….
사용자에게 답변하기: Stuck on "Get Started" screen (home button damaged)We sell these dongles for this exact purpose at iPad Rehab Supply. https://ipadrehab.ecwid.com/#!/iPhone-Home-Button-Dongle%E2%80%94will-pass-%E2%80%9CPress-Home-to-Recover%E2%80%9D/p/113385012/category=0
사용자에게 답변하기: Stuck on Apple Logo after replacementsYou have introduced a lot of variables here. Your first step is to figure out if this logic board can charge or not. To do that, you need a KNOWN GOOD (not new, known good) charge port and battery and usb ammeter. Connect JUST the charge port and battery to the logic board outside of the housing. See if the device can draw ~1A current through the usb ammeter. (https://ipadrehab.ecwid.com/#!/USB-Ammeter/p/83127954/category=0) If it does—then the logic board is able to charge and you can then evaluate your charge ports—find a good one and install it in the housing, then add the logic board and see if the board can still charge while in the housing. (Often non-standard housings can ground out the charge port). Continue to add back variables and test after each troubleshooting step. If the logic board can NOT charge with KNOWN GOOD port and battery, then it needs microsoldering repair.
사용자에게 답변하기: Replaced screen, now what’s wrong? The *most* likely case here is damage to the flex on the new screen. What happens if you put your old cracked screen back on, does this problem go away?
사용자에게 답변하기: No audio recording, voice memo recording button unavailable. This is a well known signature problem for the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. It is a board level fault—flexion based damage at the C12 pad for the master clock signal of the audio ic chip. It happens from normal use of the phone and is due to poor design and construction of the logic board, combined with Apple ignoring this class of defects which first occurred en masse with the iPhone 6 plus. I got tired of typing out the same post again and again so I wrote a blog article about it recently. You can read it here: http://www.ipadrehab.com/article.cfm?Art...
사용자에게 답변하기: iPhone 5S automatically booting into recoveryThe signal for a board to boot into recovery mode is home button held down with usb cable plugged in. Take away those variables and see if the board will boot (i.e. disconnect home button and boot with power button not usb)
