Error 27 or 9 with blue screen - can't start

Hello everybody,

I bought an very cheap iPhone 5s with the error discripton "bootloop". Now it's here and I'm not sure what's the error.

If I start the phone, the screen is black but I can see the backlight. If I hang it on the powercharger, I see the Apple logo.

So I decide to restore it with iTunes. iTunes recognizes the phone but I can't restore it. On normal restore I got error 27. iTunes say it's waiting for the phone -> on the iPhone I can see the apple and the progress bar with 0% and around 1 minute later, iTunes show the error 27.

In the dfu mode I got error 9. It's the same. iTunes want to restore the phone -> on the iPhone I see the progress bar with 0% but then I see for 2 seconds an blue screen without any text. The iPhone restart and iTunes show me error 9.

I vacillate between a defective battery or a defective screen.

Can anyone help me?

Update

Hello again, today I opened the phone and definitely it was not opened yet.

At first I removed the screws that covers the screen connectors -> error 9 (restore) and error 27 (update).

Then I disconnected the display, the camera, the gsm antenna and the other connectors near the screen but I got error 9 again. Is it at all possible to restore the phone without connected screen? I tried to find the faulty part.

I can't imagine that the phone is broken without exposure.

At next I want to change the battery.

My PC is definitely ok. I tried to restore my old iPhone 4 and it worked great.

Any other ideas?

Error 9 is most likely main flash memory corruption, it should be repaired offline, currently it is not possible to restore the phone without using a programmer to re-write low-level memory chip data.

Thank you

Chip ? Baseband Chipset ? Do you know the code number?

Main flash memory is not the NAND flash, right? Because if there is an NAND error, there should be a error like here: http://forums.imore.com/iphone-5/279618-... ?

It is the main NAND.

Hey Tom, can you give some information or where we can find some? I searched around but found nearly nothing. Only the label number for a 8gb flash for the iPhone 4.

I think it's easier to replace the flash than to programming the faulty flash.

But if there are no new flash memorys to buy, is it possible to program the old flash with the Progskeet programmer for example? http://www.hardstore.com/PROGSKEET-V1-21... This is an multiple programmer for NAND and NOR chips. According to the description it's usable with iphones.

I have no idea how to connect the flash with the programmer. The Board have an USB port but I'm not sure if it's usable or if I have to extract the NAND chip, build in the programmer and back. That will be no problem (I hope). Reflow station are existing.

Iceberg, either way this is a very difficult repair. If you choose to repair the main flash, special NAND programmers are required to fix the file system offline because iPhone NAND chips are bare memory chips without a controller in it, and I do not know what's the software used to repair the file system. If you choose to replace the chip, you still need to reprogram the serial number, which involves putting the iPhone into factory mode (even lower than DFU, special hardware required). In China these repairs are limited to very advanced private repair labs, requiring special equipment worth a whole crate of iPhones.

The screen looks not been repaired. The iPhone looks also great. No scratches ot similar. I tried to pull up the glas but it seems to stuck. I can't move it up. The blue screen lights up, only if I try to restore it. If I try to turn it on without any connection to the cable, I see the apple logo and then the screen turns black.

hey i have the same problem can you tell me what to do ?

I had error code 9 and blue screen when trying to restore after new screen and battery from water damage. I found a video that said the four screws that hold down the cover for the screen, speaker and front facing camera are different lengths. It said if you put too long of a screw into the bottom right hand hole, it can push on the motherboard and cause the blue screen. They said remove that screw and try with the hole empty. It worked like a charm, I now have a perfectly working iPhone 5S!

Hope this helps.

The way it always worked for me was disconnect the screen and everything else from the logic board and turn it on with minimum amount of stuff plugged in ( disconnect anything unnecessary ) do a restore and once the restore is complete then plug everything back.
