Detailed instructions on replacing display data cable 922-9811

I damaged the "MLB side" labeled end of the connector on the display data cable APN#: 922-9811. I need to replace it and am having problems removing the "LCD side" labeled end from the display. (Straight up from bottom to top) Am I missing something on how to release the cable from the connector without using unnecessary force? I've read the manuals and/or watched the videos on this site, as well as OWC, and crucial. Ive not found any detailed instructions or unobstructed photos of this process.
