the camera does not recognize fully charged batteries. I have purchased a replacement battery thinking that the battery may have been the problem, but the camera does not recognize either. Even with two fully charged batteries I am unable to take a photo.

There is a real good video on you tube so cant take credit for this but essentially all you need do is put a piece of tape over the central terminal of the battery and this will fix the problem. Rember to remove it prior to charging the battery though.

The model I had ended up having a recall if the battery contact point. Sent it in and canon sent me a replacement camera.
