Why is my device not recording any messages?
When I miss a call, the device will not record or save any of the messages people leave. What should I do?

Make sure the answering system is on. ANS ON light on the telephone should be on. Make sure the memory of the answering system is not full. If there is a fax machine connected to the same telephone line, try disconnecting the fax machine. If that
solves the problem, consult your fax machine documentation for information on compatibility with answering systems

If you have an AT&T CL4940 telephone, (you didn’t specify the make or model) here’s the user manual.
Go to p.40 to view how to delete the old messages from the phone’s answering system.
