Does not charge consistently

Hello,

I have Macbook 2,1 and recently the charging became random. The battery is still working fine though not at its peak performance. When I connect the mag safe adapter, it charges sometimes and it does not charge sometimes. Its a struggle to determine when it will charge. I am not sure if the problem is with the mag safe board or mag safe adapter. Any thoughts on how to determine which one is the problem and how to fix it?

First download and run Coconut battery:http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba... Please tell us the results. Without having it here, I can't tell what the problem is either.

Next inspect the plug and Receptacle for debris and/or corrosion. Please tell us about the light on the magsafe connector. Is the adapter power unit getting hot? Can you hook it up to another mac to test the adapter. Do you have a multi-meter? Don't worry, we'll figure it out.

Plug and receptacle seems okay. There is no light on the mag safe connector. The power adapter is cold now but I do remember it being sometimes but not hot.

I don't have another mac with me right now but I can test it later. I don't have a multi-meter but I can get one.

With no light on the MagSafe adapter it's a very good bet that it has failed. To test it remove the battery and plug the magSafe in and try to start. If it wont start, here's what you need: [연계 제품이 누락 또는 비활성화 됨: IF113-045]

Don't buy the part till you've tested it on another Mac and gotten a light. I still don't know if it's the problem. Will it start with just the battery plugged in?

Thank you again, I will test it further. My only concern is that sometimes that light comes back on and it charges. I will have to unplug the magSafe adapter and move it to another power outlet and then then light will come back on and it will charge. I just did that the light came back on and it is now charging but for some reason if I disconnect the magSafe adapter and plug it back in the light will never come back in till the batter is really low and then sometimes like magic it charges. It really seems to be a strange behavior.
