@durwood the only sure way to check the Magnetron ignition is to use the Briggs ignition tester (Briggs part # 19368) and follow the instructions. The tester takes into account the effects of compression and gives a real representation of what is taking place while the engine is cranking or running. Briggs and Stratton does not provide any electrical specs for the Magnetron due to some electronic components inside the unit that cannot be separated from the rest of the circuits for any external tests. So you either see if you can get the tester or take your chance on a new Magnetron.

@durwood that will depend on the engine of your mower. According to the manual it should be a Briggs & Stratton Model 42E707 Type 2631-E1 Any chance you can verify this?
