My new 3DS XL 2015 (Limited Edition) came with a small crack in the top shell.
I don't know how to remove the top shell to replace it, as there are no visible screws.
Any detailed assistance would be very much appreciated.

Now if you mean this piece
it's very simple.
First remove these 4 plastic pieces that are circled here
that are hiding the screws (nope nothing under rubber stopper this time), then remove the screws. After that simply pry open the shell from where the red circle is
and you're free to go.

Removing those plastic covers can be a bit tricky especially without damaging anything. I'd prefer using a X-Acto knife or a cutter knife. Just insert the tip of blade to the edge of interior shell and the plastic piece, and gently pry that plastic piece out. This process may leave a cut or two on the plastic piece if you are not doing it perfect(which is next to impossible for me and probably me only) , but it shouldn't bother you so much. Also if the tip of blade broke after prying, you don't need to worry about it too much as it will most likely fall out before you know it, and you don't have to replace the blade as well since all we need is a thin object to get into that edge.
