Is the laptop turning on every time and displaying the picture then getting so far and then shutting down?

If so the board may just need reflowing and you can do the job with a hot air gun on medium this is reflowing, for reflowing the you need to bring the componants up to about 230 to 250 degree's in order to reach reflow temp so that the solder holding the componants is resoldered and not cracked as this is more than likely the problem but firstly try this.

You probably have blocked vents on heat sink and overtime the machine gets really hot and a solderjoint will fracture (the resulting issue), we have to locate the one that has done this and heat it back up to melt the solder again, i see this often and get them working again just be very carefull to not overheat the chip and motherboard and making it bubble but also don't be too shy.

Over time the laptop sucks alot of dust and it builds up in the vents and stops the heat from escpaping. Dissesemble the laptop making sure to place the screws on a surface in the posistion they come out in so that the right screw goes in the correct hole as some laptops have all size screws and if the wrong screw goes in a hole that is to small it could cause issues.

Now for this you will need a hot air gun and foil and thermal paste.

So once you have it remove the heat sink and take the fan off carefully by undoing the screws on the fan if there are some, you should then see lots of fluff, remove all of it,

So to cut a long story short you need to either reflow the whole board buy way of heating it up on both sides in a circular motion making sure the whole board is getting up to 230 to 250 degree's.

If you can not mesure the heat just move around the whole board for about 5 mins making sure to not stop in one place for too long as the whole board needs to rise at roughly the same temp. repeat on otherside making sure to wait for it to cool before turning it over. Oh place the board on a suface that is not going to get damaged. I used to use an old piece of denim.

After cooling only connect the screen/ ram/ and power/ and the power button, the button may be on the board and test it.

if it is still doing it, try the process again as it may take a few attempts to fix it.

After a few attempts, if it still does not work relfow the gpu.

To reflow the gpu you need to get some tin foil and completely cover the board making sure all plastic conectors have not popped through the foil. Cut around the gpu so that that is all you can see of the board. Take the hot air gun place it over the gpu and heat on medium for 10 seconds about 2" above the gpu. let it cool for 10 seconds repeating the process 3 to 4 timesthen let it cool for 20 mins. now dont put the laptop back together just connect the screen to its connector on the motherboard as we are only testing it , now connect the ram and power supply and press the power button, that is if the button is soldered to the motherboard. If not it is on the underside of the touchpad. Take it off and connect. Now turn on and see if the picture is back. Ps when replaceing the heatsink make sure to put new thermal paste on the cpu.. Good luck

Your problem requires disassembling your complete laptop to get to the processor chip.

The factory forgot to remove a serial number label placed directly on the processor's heat sink so it causes the processor to get hot and shutdown to prevent damage.

So you disassemble the laptop and remove the motherboard with attached heat sink on the bottom. Don't forget to use ESD tools and strap as you can destroy your motherboard. On a solid surface unscrew the 4 screws that hold the heat sink on the processor and carefully remove it. Clean off any old heat sink paste with a small cloth or paper towel. Rip slightly the serial number label and fold it so that none of it is on the heat sink but just the surrounding processor. Apply new Arctic Silver heat sink paste evenly to the processor pad. Re-attach the heat sink and assemble the laptop in reverse order of your disassembly.

It will work fine after this repair.

This repair was learned and used when my ownToshiba P775 had the same failure.
