If your iPad blinks for a second when the screen is turned on as @coopstrom described above than try a simple and effective trick that fixes this common issue on an iPad 2. Try the "iPad spanking trick" where you turn the iPad over and give it numerous sharp whacks until the LCD comes back on.

Sick!...That did the trick.... I had already tried the "technical tap", this is the first I've ever heard of "technical spanks"... thanks

Mine does this as well, except I can get the screen to blink on for fraction of a sec.
