The head phone extender is broken
On the X12 there are two extenders on the headphones. They they are both SNAPPED but, one the pieces is inside of the resting you would put on your head.

William Moore on each side of the headband you will find a piece that holds the "extender" in place. It is attached with two small Philips head screws. Removing those will free the "extenders" and allow you to change it.
