Why is the Mic failing?

I recently bought one of these Xperia X compact but the Mic started acting up. I know it has 2 mics and probably ones is dedicated to apps and the other to calls and both for stereo recording. But after less than a month this started acting on regular voice calls and WhatsApp calls. I can hear the sounds of me touching or hitting the Mic area but if I call it will sound as if I was far away or ina pool. Also if I use the test app it has on support section, it'll work just fine, just as it will record audios in WhatsApp just fine. Any ideas? Hugo.jimenez88@gmail.com

I have tied the restore using the Xperia companion too or switching the SIM card :(

First try updating your phone's firmware manualy from the settings. Than if it doesn't help, try factory resetting your phone. If that does not help either, try flashing the stock firmware using the recovery mode, a complete guide to that is propably somewhere at xda-developers.com

Hi,

Have you checked that the microphone sound inlet hole in the case is not blocked with lint?

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass. If it looks blocked use a vacuum cleaner to try and suck it out. Do NOT use a metal probe etc as you may damage the microphone which is right behind it.

Just a thought.
