My iPhone SE was got wet and now it vibrates and the screen turns off

hey i was at the pool earlier today and i was sitting in the pool using my phone and my head phones where in the water and my hands were wet while holding it but the phone wasn't until i had unfortunately drop it in for two sec before grabbing it and only the top half had got in the water. i though nothing of it and continue to watch videos and chat with my friends for another 20 mins, i walked way from my phone and when i came back it was vibrating for no reason and t kept making the switch sound that the phone makes when you take it on and off vibrate. i left the pool soon after and had put my phone in my pocket which were wet i walked across the street to my home. and maybe 20 mins later while using my phone it kept vibrating and would freeze and that's it until i had plugged my phone in because it was about to die. and i say maybe 5 mins the phone started to go crazy buzzing and vibrating and then the touch screen stop working. so after that i though holly &&^& it must be because of the water from earlier so i put the phone in rice but the buzzing and vibrating didn't stop. so maybe i say a 2 hours later i'am in a drive threw with my mom and she picks up the phone because i was telling her what had happen and she turns the phone on and off repeatedly until the screen goes black and all you hear is the sound the phone make when it turn on and off please give any advise. i just got the phone and i haven't paid it off yet so any help, well is helpful.

Try pressing 1 over and over until the phone stops vibrating, I worked for me. You can also try restarting it. Hope this helps.

Do not put your phone in rice! The rice myth kills too many phones...

The water is inside the phone, on the logic board and under the shields, even under the IC's. The rice is nowhere near where the water is. So while it ‘’may’’ soak up some water vapour, the real problem is the corrosion that is taking place as the water evaporates. Powering on the phone accelerates the process. The longer you let a phone sit in rice, the more time you are giving corrosion to damage your logic board. The saltier or harder the water is, the more damage will occur.

  • Open your phone and remove the logic board (follow this guide)
  • Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
  • Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, 80% of the board is covered in shields. That's usually where the damage is occurring.
  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.

Use a tool like 3uTools to flash the firmware as it may be corrupted.

You should also consider getting a new battery

A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone or the data because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board. Many shops have a no fix/no fee policy so you don't have to spend money to find out if the phone is fixable or not.

Hi,

I did all your steps above, only the motor keeps vibrating. is this a problem with the motor ?

Is the switch to silent and sound keep popping up on the screen? Sometimes this is the volume button ribbon which connects also provides a connection to the vibration motor.

My iPhone 8 Plus fell in pool today and was working perfectly After I removed it from water but suddenly started vibrating weird but after connecting my charger now everything seems to be perfect and it’s doing normal now even if I remove the charger

So I dropped my iphone 5c in water and I was 3 hours away from home, so of course i had to wait 3-4 hours to put it in rice. At first when I put it in rice it was vibrating for about 4 hours then it stopped, so I left it in rice for about a week. I now took it out after a week and I plugged it in. The phone still shows the dead battery sign and when I plugged it in it started to vibrate again. When I unplugged it it stopped. Is my phone toast? or can it still be saved? and what do I have to do to save it" (if possible)

This exact thing was happening to my phone and it wouldn’t stop vibrating. So I put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes and it worked!

This happened to me and in the end in frustration I just said to Siri in the locked screen I think.... stop it! And ‘stop vibrating!’ And amazingly it did! So worth a try!
