Can I only change digitizer and not the LCD? My screen top layer is broken, the digitizer and lcd are fine, I don't think there's any way to change the top glass without changing digitizer and touch screen.

You can cgange just the glass but this is not easy. In fact if you have never done this repaor before you are probably better off replacing the lcd. You can try to replace the glass but you will probably end up causing damage to the lcd therefore you you might have to get a new lcd after the glass replacement.

Thank you for this reply! I am in the same boat -glass is scratched but the screen is fine. Wondering if I should replace just the glass (digitizer) or do a combo with the screen. What makes the digitizer only replacement so difficult? I've only done screen replacements before, not digitizers.
Thanks @harisahmed123 . I'd like to try this (i.e. replace digitizer only and not the whole assembly with LCD panel). LCP panel is fine (I can still use the phone) but screen cracked.
All videos I see on the HTC 10 are to replace the whole LCD assembly. You know of any video showing the digitizer replacement?
