Another mac not charging battery

Another mac not charging battery

Hi,

I've been reading these answers but haven't found a solution for my problem yet..

I have a early 2006 macbook 13 wich will not charge the battery.

I am certain the battery and the AC charger are fine. (I've tested others).

The issue:

- Runs fine on battery

- Does not run on charger only [edit]

-When plugged in the MB recognises the charger and the light is green (the symbol turns into a plug but states 'calculating' and doesnt change)

- Resetting SMC and PRAM did not help.

So my guess was it must be the Magsafe DC board and i took the MB apart. But while inspecting the battery connector cable thats connected to the logic board i saw that one of de holes for the pins is blackish: http://tinypic.com/r/bi8k2c/7

Seeing this I'm not certain i'ts the Magsafe DC board that's faulty.

- It can be the Magsafe DC

- The battery connector

- Logic board

Is there any way I could do some tests to know for sure wich of the 3 is faulty?

See if it will run without the battery to check out the MagSafe board. Download and run Coconut Battery to find out the battery condition:

Ah yes, forgot to mention that it does NOT run without the battery. Coconut sais battery is good enough. (67% capacity) When charger is pluged in it sais connected but not charging..

Use a multimeter to test the AC adapters output. It would be nice to test it on another Mac. Or try a known good adapter. If the adapters bad, change it, if good change the DC IN board.

I don't know how te use a multimeter.. But I've tested the adapter on another mac and it works fine. Orgering a DC inboard now. Will post my findings when I get it.Thanx

While waiting on my DC IN board I decided to take a shot at testing the AC charger's output. I've set the multimeter to 20 V direct current (V= symbol) and used the black stick on the fist pin and the red on the second pin. It showed 6.73 V. The same on pins 4 and 5. It should be 16.5 V right?

So can I conclude that the charger is bad after all? Or did I do something wrong?
