Iphone 6s Plus when I am talking on the phone it sounds like the person that I am talking to is muffled. I have replaced the ear speaker cleaned the ear piece cover yet it still sounds muffled. I purchased the new ear piece from ifixit. I have made sure there is no cables or anything covering the speaker area yet I still can not get it to sound clear.

Just to toss this in since no one mentioned it.
Are you running OS between 11 and 11.0.2? If you are, just run an update to clear the issue.
There was a notated issue when the updates came out for the 6S, 11.1 cleared up several of those issues.

Yes I told the customer to update the phone and get back with me on this issue to see if it helped. I believe they did do the update and still have the issue but I will find out if it was done before I do anything else with it. Thank You for the information.

Make sure you check the speaker filter using a light behind the screen (when the screen is unplugged and taken off of course) and if you don't see light going through clearly then the speaker filter as you will see is probably blocked and needs to be cleaned.

Yes I can see light when checked put it to a light. I also used can air to try to blow anything out that may have been in there.

I had the same problem you had only on an iPhone 6.
I tried changing out the flex, earpiece and even check for dirt and oil.. Then I Pushed a needle through the mesh on the replacement screen allowing the sound from the speaker go to my ear and it worked amazing..
My customer were so happy to finally hear people on the phone again.

What kind of needle did you use? Was it a sewing needle or what? As the hole is not very big at all.
The smallest one I could find, you don't need to tear the mesh apart, just to make some bigger holes.

Ok this is going to sound ludicrous but... the “speaker” is a pretty good chunk of steel about 1/4” square right under the tiny thin slit on the phone face... you literally can’t hurt it like accidentally poking a hole in a paper speaker cone. Soooo... over time that tiny ear slit on the face of the phone gets gunked up with dust, lent, ear oils/wax etc. Take a sharp edge object like tweezers and scrape that earpiece slit clean really good, blow or vacuum out the junk you dislodged. Again you can’t hurt it so scrape away! Won’t take much too clear the junk enough to hear again. Hope this helps before you think about changing the speaker (which isn’t hard to do by the way).

***This is for older versions of iPhone head phone with larger wired mesh.
Spray the i phone headset's wire mesh with alcohol based spray....
**This is to loosen up dirt and Greece....
Clean up the wetness with something..
Use sticky packing tape clear version only and not an other versions that could leave tapes stickiness on back on the mesh...
dab it light and do it with clean side each time....
use a new one and press little hard and keep using the clean side each time...
it will pick dirt and grime from the mesh....
check sound levels now..... better or not??

Sorry I forgot about this one since I was waiting on the customer to return with the phone. They never returned so I was not able to try anything with it.
