broken screen repair, new screen looks nice but the home button broken

ifixit sent a replacement screen, i transferred over my old home button, installed the new screen, the screen works but now the home button does not work.

I tried to connect and reconnect the home button connector several times but still the button wont work.

i had to reinstall the button on my old screen and reinstall the old screen to get the phone working again.

the button works great in the old screen so it is not the button itself.

It must be a defective screen from ifixit, not the first time i have gotten defective product from them.

of course i cant get through to the customer service to get them to ship me a replacement,

time to go back to etech parts.

Sounds to be the screen. Actually that has happened to me recently with a 6 Plus. The new screen worked but the old home button wouldn't. However it would work with the old screen. I had a replacement sent and should be trying it soon. iFixit parts are good but no one is perfect. I know with the last two vendors that I was using was okay but got worse over time. With iFixit, I have had maybe two times that I have had problems with the parts. But it does sound to be a screen issue. What you could do is move the back cover plate that has the home button cable on it from the old screen to the new screen, if you aren't able to get a replacement. That should allow the home button to work on the new screen.

I know I installed correctly because when I reinstalled on the old screen, the button worked perfectly

did the part come with a back panel preinstalled, or did you need to move over the grounding panel with the extension flex?
