CPU Heatsink motherboard mount broke off

Hi guys,

I have a medion x7813 (similiar to the MSI GT70) and one of the 3 CPU heatsink mount just broke, this is causing my CPU to run very hot since the contact between the CPU and heatsink is far from good.

Here are some images to show you my problem :

So how do i fix this ? I was thinking of using epoxy resin or superglue to stick it in place but i don't know if this is the best solution or if it will even work.

Thanks for the help :)

Any sort of non conductive adhesive would work, superglue could be an option, being careful not to cover any components. Maybe if you glue it on on the bottom side.

You think this will work even with the force exerted by the heatsink since the contact zone is pretty small ?

The best option would be to buy a new board but given it may be saved by a bit of glue or epoxy, I’d say it would do the job.

It’s the cpu bracket that holds the most tension the heat sink just sits on top and needs to have an even spread of surface area around the cpu, the lack of stand-off means the heat is distributing unevenly, really you could go Linus tech tips and used a cable tie for all the difference it would make, but plz don’t do that.

Let me know if this helps.

I went with the epoxy and right now it's working great, thanks for your help mate :)

Nice, good job.

Hi so how is it now? Is it still intact? What kind of epoxy did you use? Because i think some epoxy are electrically conductive. I have the same issue i found out when im repasting my gpu and cpu and im looking for a good fix. Thanks
