Failed Update after removing optical drive

My optical drive on my day one xbox one was broken and non functional, so I removed it (all my games were digital downloads anyway). recently, Microsoft sent out an update that apparently included a hardware update that got me an error code E100 etc...

Is there a work around for this? I'd rather not wait until I am able to buy a replacement. On the same note, I can't force an offline update via usb either since the eject button in the "press and hold the BIND and EJECT button" step doesn't actually operate anything. I understand that I will probably just have to wait until I replace the drive, but I was hoping there would be a fix. Anyway... thanks for your time.

Probably won't help even if you replace the drive, you may have to get the original drive to pass through the update.

Sadly, that drive was tossed in the garbage....

Never toss a broken part with irreplaceable security key inside. You man be able to extract the key or repair the part in the future. Losing it would surely kill the machine before you are able to extract the key from the console itself.
