Half of iPod not working?

One half of the ipod touchscreen not working so cannot use the left side of keypad or menu.

Otherwise seems to be in working order. Only one and a half years old.

Please advise what to do to repair and how much will it cost.

Sounds to me like you require a new front panel due to the digitizer not working. The instructions are here and the part is available here Good Luck.
