keep getting disc reading error

One day it plays fine, then it stops reading disc and shows disk reading error. A couple of my favorite games are on PS2, so I felt bad for these people because they had kids and no electricity. I got the ooh it works great. So I gave them $50 and they also gave me 4 games with it. So what can I do or is there going too be a fix? I have never messed with a PS2.

Again Iam getting disk error and it wont play any disc, and then sometimes it works great.

Tried a CD/DVD disc cleaner ? Might just be dirty lens.

Its also possible the motor has given up, these can be replaced from what I know.
