The sixth-generation Honda Civic was introduced in 1995. It retained its class-leading handling as it, along with the fourth and fifth generations, had front double wishbone suspension, the advanced independent suspension inspired by Honda's racing research.

Car turns over, but isn't firing.

Alright, I'm coming here for help. This Civic stalled on my wife going down the Interstate, and hasn't started up since. It turns over, but it's not firing. It's getting fuel. It's getting intermittent spark. I've replaced the distributor, all the plugs and wires, and the ignition switch. Still no fire. I'm at a loss. Someone save me!

@drewmason1992 what engine size does it have and what type of transmission (AT/MT)? what do you mean by "intermittent spark"?

@oldturkey03 It's a 1.6L 4 cylinder with automatic transmission. And my brother was working on it and told me it was sparking sometimes but not 100% of the time. What are your thoughts?

@drewmason1992 you replaced the complete distributor?

We'll have to see if @jimfixer (the resident gear head) can enlighten us a bit more on this

@drewmason1992 this is tough because of the intermittent issue. It could be strictly a wiring issue (corroded connectors etc.) I would be looking at the Ignition Control Module and the Engine control mdoule. It will incuded checking the CYP (which is your cylinder position sensor) and the CKP (which is your crankshaft position sensor). My first step is the CYP which is located inside the distributor (based on the intermittent issue). You can check these by measuring the resistnace between the contacts of the sensors You should get between 350-700Ohms of resistance. Of course, you cannot rule out that this is simply a coil failure.
